Almar has installed remote monitoring modems in approximately 130 <a href=\"https:\/\/almarcontainergroup.com\/za\/refrigerated-containers\/\">reefers (refrigerated containers) in South Africa<\/a>, Kenya, Tanzania and Saudi to do just that. The modem measures, manages, optimises and sustains operational performance of reefers, thereby, protecting your goods against possible loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pioneers of this sophisticated tracking and reporting system, Almar Container Group is able to monitor unusual cold chain activity on customers\u2019 reefers on a real time basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-style:italic;\">\u201cWe have been testing and refining the system in the field for two years in order to optimise it for domestic use. If I pick up a false or unusual trend in temperature or humidity, I alert the customer immediately,\u2019\u2019<\/span> explains Mike Leppan, reefer technician for Almar. <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">\u201cThis could, and has, saved many of our customers from their perishable product being compromised.\u201d<\/span><\/p><br>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery aligncenter columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/almarcontainergroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/reefer-remote-monitoring-2.jpg\" alt=\"Remote Reefer Monitoring\" data-id=\"61371\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/almarcontainergroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/reefer-remote-monitoring-2.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/almarcontainergroup.com\/?attachment_id=61371#main\" class=\"wp-image-61371\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/almarcontainergroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/reefer-remote-monitoring-4.jpg\" alt=\"Remote Reefer Monitoring\" data-id=\"61372\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/almarcontainergroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/reefer-remote-monitoring-4.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/almarcontainergroup.com\/?attachment_id=61372#main\" class=\"wp-image-61372\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<br><p>Although not yet a service offered to the customer, Almar does behind the scenes tracking on many of their reefers with the aim of installing it on their whole reefer fleet in time to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The remote monitoring modem in the reefer monitors every event that takes place; from its location in the depot, to when it moves out of the \u2018known location\u2019 to the \u2018new location\u2019 at the lessee or sub-lessee\u2019s premises, and most importantly it\u2019s setpoint temperature. I am able to manually defrost and on request I can reset temperatures for clients. I can run advanced diagnostics in the event of technical problems. This could save the cost of a technician being called out.
