Solar Energy Lights Up Almar Kenya's Fabrication Facility

December 17, 2025

When we launched our new fabrication facility in Karen earlier this year, we didn't just build a space for innovation - we built it to run on clean, sustainable energy.

Our Karen facility is now powered by a 45-kilowatt peak (kWp) solar system, marking another step forward in Almar Kenya's commitment to smart, responsible operations.

Why Solar Makes Sense

Manufacturing in Kenya comes with energy challenges.  Industrial electricity costs are high and for a fabrication facility where welding equipment and cutting machines run throughout the day, energy is a major operational cost.

Solar power offers us three key advantages:

Cost Efficiency – We're generating electricity at a fraction of grid power costs during peak production hours.

Reliability – By producing our own power, we're protected from outages that can disrupt production schedules.

Sustainability – We're reducing our carbon footprint while demonstrating responsible business practices in the region.

Kenya's consistent sunlight makes solar a natural fit.  Our facility consumes most of its energy during daylight hours - exactly when solar performs best.

What This Means for Our Customers

This solar-powered facility enables us to deliver what we've always promised: simple, reliable, and fast container solutions.  From custom modifications to specialized fabrications, we now have the sustainable infrastructure to support innovation across East Africa.

Faster turnaround times, greater flexibility and the capacity to take on complex projects - all powered by renewable energy.

Building a Sustainable Future

As we continue serving customers across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and beyond, this facility stands as a symbol of progress - where innovation meets sustainability.

The sun powers more than just our panels.

It powers our progress.
